Charter Year 2020-21
Rotary Club of Kolkata Urbana is one of few residential complex based club in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. The club was formed when a group of enthusiastic residents brainstormed on ways and means to serve the neighbourhood around Urbana, a high rise residential complex on the eastern part of Kolkata. Amongst the initial group of members, there were residents who wanted to work on social causes, those who were concerned on the increasing pollution levels in the city and those who were just keen to understand the Rotary organization.
The club received its Charter on Oct 6, 2020 and it hosted its Charter Ceremony on 31st Oct 2020. Charter President Arindam Sil took oath of office along with Charter Secretary Kohinoor Mandal and 21 other members. The Board of Directors assumed office and soon the club was on it’s way - planning & executing projects which resonated with the beneficiaries and the members. . In the Rotary year 20-21, the club took up a around 20 meaningful projects and engaged it’s strong memberhsip base. In the District Awards for 2020-21, it was awarded with 6 awards including Best New Club for 2020-21, 1st prize for Energy and Conservation, 1st prize for Public Image, 2nd prize for online bulletin, 2nd Prize for Computer Literacy and DG Appreciation for club Exihibits at the District Conference. The club had already carved a niche for itself in the District 3291 and was getting noticed as a vibrant new club. The club was also able to attract quality members and it’s strength increased to 34 before the Rotary year 2020-21 came to an end on June 30
2021-22
The club had stepped into it’s 2nd year with Rtn. Arindam Sil continuing as the President and Rtn. Jayanta Guha taking over the mantle of Club Secretary. The club grew in memberships and number of projects. It conducted almost 32 service projects with a few ongoing and yearly projects also.
2022-23
The club has now stepped into its 3rd year with Rtn Susanta Mallick as its President and Rtn Ashis Kumar Mukherjee as Secretary taking over the mantle of the club. The new Treasurer is Rtn Arindam Sengupta. The strength of membership of the club has gone upto 46 and with a potential to grow to bigger number. Our board has also grown this year with more than 20 members handling various roles and responsibilities.
2023-24
RCKU begins this year with Rtn Jayanta Guha as its President , Rtn Hariram Govind as Secretary and Rtn Sanjay Wadha as Treasurer. The strength of membership has dropped to 40. This year RCKU board has nine members and around 6-7 members constituting of committee chairpersons, who along with their team members shall be responsible for carrying out varous projects for the club.
